Apple has just been granted a new patent from the US patent agency. This patent comes just days after Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo revealed some information about Apple’s latest product. We have already covered that Apple will release the Apple AirPods 2 in 2019. Now, this latest patent from Apple is related to the AirPods 2 as well. According to this patent filing from Apple, the company is in pursuit of ‘a golden bud’ which fits all ears. This was evident from the launch of first Apple AirPods itself where Apple mentioned about how much research they did to find the universal size and shape of earbuds which fits everyone
Now, it seems that Apple is trying even harder to achieve this universal fit. This is because of the latest Apple patent which was filled and has been granted by the US agency. In this patent, Apple has patented a type of interchangeable earbuds equipped with “at least one” biometric sensor, which could detect left/right ear placement and accordingly adjust audio. One big advantage of universal Apple AirPods will be the cost of manufacturing will be reduced to a great extent
This also means that the prices of Apple AirPods released in future will be reduced. However, it is unlikely that Apple will reduce the prices of their Apple AirPods from what they are now. One other advantage is that it will be easier to get replacement Apple AirPods if you manage to lose one of them.
Currently, if you lose the left or right AirPod than you have to get the same one for your ear. Otherwise, the sound and acoustics will be different if both of the earbuds are same in different ears. Along with this, Apple will also include biometrics in future Apple AirPods with which you can track your ear placement and other health measurements.
