Apple had just released the refreshed version of their famous MacBook Pro’s with their 2018 variants a few days ago. Now, the latest MacBook Pro 2018 variants come in 13-inch and 15-inch options same as last year. Also, the 2018 MacBook Pro models come with Touch bar as well which was introduced last year. However, there was a major problem with the MacBook Pro variants of last year as users reported malfunctioning keyboards.
We have seen that there are many lawsuits filed against Apple for this reason as well. Therefore, Apple has now introduced the Third-Generation of Keyboards on their 2018 MacBook Pro known as Butterfly keyboards.
Talking about the second-generation MacBook Pro keyboards, they are louder than the latest generation keyboards. Also, these keyboards have an additional sealing from the inside so that the dust and other particles don’t penetrate into the keyboard which was the case on last year’s devices.
Now, Apple has not yet acknowledged the issues which were present last year but since the company has introduced third-gen keyboards, we can understand that there was a problem. Now, Apple has already offered to give warranty replacements to users with defective keyboards for their MacBook Pro variants.
As far as the faulty keyboards are concerned, Apple claims that only a small percentage of users are affected by this issue. The company has added that the users with MacBook Pro released inĀ 2015, 2016 and 2017 can face the issue of keys getting stuck or repeating or registering twice. Now, it is also known that the third-generation keyboard which comes with 2018 MacBook Pro is exclusive to them.
This means that you cannot get this keyboard even after a replacement has been done. Also, iFixit found out that the Apple MacBook Pro 2018 keyboards have a silicon material inside the keys to prevent dust and other material from penetratingĀ inside the keyboard, which in turn, will solve the problem that the first and second gen MacBook Pro Butterfly keys had.
