Blackberry has been known to have the best in class security for mobile handsets. Although Android is a secure platform and Google is releasing security patches every month, still manufactures are looking for the best in class security for their handsets. British Smartphone manufacturer CAT and Land Rover are looking for BlackBerry Secure OS for their upcoming handsets. Both the handsets are offered in a durable build which is made to last and now will even come with a safer OS on the inside.
The BlackBerry Secure Certification will include their own Operating System which is found on BlackBerry handsets and even a couple of applications which are designed to protect the privacy of the owner. Handsets which are licensed by the British Company is made for rugged environment and is meant to be used in extreme situations.
These smartphones are not available globally and the majority of sales takes place in Europe, Africa, North America, Middle East, and Latin America. BlackBerry since a long time has been looking to move into the software only business.
During the announcement of the partnership Alex Thumder, SVP and GM of Mobility Solutions at Blackberry said,
“This new deal will allow us to expand our BlackBerry Secure footprint into the more than 100 markets that Bullitt Group currently distributes its products, especially in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Bullitt Group’s customers, from farmers and construction workers to outdoor enthusiasts, will now be able to have rugged products that aren’t just durable on the outside, but also strong on security on the inside.”
Currently, BlackBerry handsets are manufactured by TCL as the smartphone business is under their control. While BlackBerry is focusing on software and services.
