We know that Google Chrome v75 was already released for Mac, Windows and Linux earlier. One of the biggest changes with Chrome 75 was bringing the dark mode to Chrome for Web. Now, we have been notified that Chrome v75 for Android is also rolling out. With this release, the focus for Android is on passwords whereas developers can take advantage of the latest version to improve user experience. This version brings many password-related features to Android which we have already seen on the desktop.
One of the main features in this update is that you will now see a grey row appear above your keyboard with a key logo at the left. This is similar to when we enter a password on web and we get a key logo in the search bar at the leftmost for saving the password. It will also reveal if we have saved any password previously for that particular website. Here is how the new feature will look in action:
Apart from saving the password, this feature will also show a “Suggest strong password” button. This will show up when you are creating a new account or changing the password of an existing account. Chrome 75 also adds a Scroll Snap Stop feature for improving browsing with gestures. According to the official statement, it lets developers “designate a snap position such that it traps the inertial scrolling operations preventing the scroll from skipping it.”. With this feature, we will have much smoother scrolling between images on the web.
Chrome 75 also adds Web Share API Level 2 which will allow file sharing from web to an installed app. We already had Web Share API Level 1 on previous versions of Chrome. However, that only allowed system share dialogs for text and URLs. Now, websites will be able to display share buttons, the same as we have on the native applications which is a welcome change.
