Facebook has always been one of the leading social media networks for interaction. We already know that people go to Facebook or Facebook-owned WhatsApp for chatting with friends and family. Also, people like and share posts from their “friends” on Facebook through their news feed. However, it also happens many times that we see some random posts on our news feed. And we immediately think in our minds that “why am I seeing this post”.
Well, Facebook has just announced a new feature named exactly that. The name of this new feature from Facebook is “Why am I seeing this post?”. This new feature is intended to give you more controls over your news feed.
From the name, you can guess that the feature will be about hiding posts from your timeline. Right on cue, Facebook will now let you decide which posts you want on your news feed. This means you can select posts from pages, friends or groups you want to see first.
According to Facebook, this is also part of an initiative by them to be more transparent. Last week, Facebook rolled out an update which now lets you see active ads of any page on the platform. Earlier, you were only allowed to see active ads from political pages. Facebook says that its new feature will help users understand how its algorithm works.
To enable this feature, click or tap the drop-down menu on the right-hand corner of a post. After that, you will be given options such as See First, Unfollow, News Feed Preferences, and Privacy Shortcuts.
Facebook has also announced an update to its “Why am I seeing this ad?” which was already available. Obviously, this feature lets you see why you were targeted to show this ad. With this update, you can now check the target audience, demographics and other criteria set for the particular ad.
