Facebook, at its F8 developer conference, introduced a new feature called Secret Crush. This feature exactly works the way you think it does. We all might have had a secret crush at some point in our life. The term secret crush means that the crush you have is secret. Which definitely means that you never reveal it to anyone. You might tell your BFF or someone important about it. But you would definitely not want to reveal it to your crush for sure.
Now, Facebook’s new feature aims to do exactly that. Facebook’s plan is to reveal your secret crush. The company says that you will be able to select up to 9 secret crushes from your friend list. After that, the secret crush from your friend list will be matched with yours. And if they are found to be matching, your secret crush will be revealed to other person and vice-versa.
Now, the point here is that this is extremely embarrassing. If you want to reveal your crush to someone secret, you would rather do it face to face then to tell it via Facebook. This also makes the feature very creepy and people have blamed it for being stupid. Facebook says that you will get a notification if someone has added you as their secret crush.
But this notification will be hidden until you add that person to your secret crush list. So you will keep guessing who that person is unless you and the other person have a crush on each other. Also, you need to be signed up for a Facebook Dating profile which is its new feature so that you can get notifications. This feature from Facebook is not available yet in the US but you can use it in Canada, Mexico, Argentina or 16 other countries right now.
