In recent times, we have not much heard related to the Google Play Store from the company. While this is the default store for Android applications, it recently got a redesign. It is known that Apple’s App Store and Google Play Store go neck-and-neck when it comes to applications and revenue. Also, both the stores have a different design which related to the company’s design philosophy as well as the platform’s.
Now, we have something that will interest you if using an Android device and buying premium apps is a must for you. Google is testing something called the ‘Google Play Pass’ on its Play Store which lets you ‘access to hundreds of premium apps’. Although the Google Play Pass is currently being tested, the folks at Android Police got some screenshots of this feature.
From the screenshots, it is revealed that the Google Play Pass is a subscription-based feature for buying premium apps. But we can say that most of the premium apps offered under the Play Pass are games. Google, as with all their services, is offering a free trial of the Play Pass as well. However, the trial is currently for 10 days only in the testing phase.
After that, the user needs to pay $4.99 monthly fee to access games and apps inside Google Play Pass. One of the games named “Stardom Valley” which is available for $7.99 is also available inside this program. This means you can play the game for a month, including other games, at just $4.99. But once the monthly pack expires, you will have to renew the pack otherwise the access will be gone.
Since the story was published on Android Police, the publication reached out to Google for confirmation. Google has confirmed that Play Pass is currently being tested but price and availability details have not been revealed.
