Google, after much anticipation, has announced its own gaming platform. However, this gaming platform is totally unique from the likes of Sony’s PlayStation and Microsoft’s Xbox. This is because Google’s Stadia is a streaming platform. There is no dedicated console or any hardware required for playing games on Google Stadia. Rather, everything is handled by Google’s dedicated gaming servers. All you have to do is go to YouTube and click on Play button for any game and you will be able to play the games.
Apart from not requiring any hardware, Google’s Stadia also works on all devices. This means you can seamlessly play your games on your PC, laptop, tablet as well as your mobile device. On top of that, Google Stadia works on all the platforms which means you can use it on your iOS, Android as well as Windows-based device. Now, you would be skeptical about a gaming platform which is totally based on the cloud. And yes, you need to be skeptical as well.
However, Google says that its servers are perfectly capable of handling anything and everything that comes their way. So much so that Google is even boasting of live streaming the gameplay while playing as well. You can live stream your game on YouTube at 1080p/60fps. Also, Google has announced 4K streaming for the games too. And 8K streaming is planned by the company in the near future.
There is one hardware component available for Google Stadia though. This is the Stadia Controller similar to PlayStation or Xbox Controller. With this, you can play your games on Google Stadia with this controller. Also, this controller is a WiFi-based one rather than being a Bluetooth-based one. So, the Stadia Controller will connect directly to Google’s servers rather than your system. At the moment, Google has not revealed any pricing details for its Google Stadia gaming platform. If priced correctly, this can bring a revolution in the inudstry.
