It is known that one of the biggest companies, Amazon, is also responsible quite a lot for climate change that is happening all over the world. This is by the way of Amazon’s delivery system and its packaging which means that a lot of natural resources are wasted in this process. However, we see that Amazon has come forward in the best way possible towards climate change. For example, Amazon pledged that it will replace all the delivery vehicles it has with electric alternatives in the next five years or so.
Also, Amazon has other efforts going on to fight the climate change which is becoming an issue nowadays. A new announcement has now come from the Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos who has pledged $10 billion from his side towards climate change. Bezos says that he has set up a new organization named Bezos Earth Fund which will start giving out grants to those working for climate change from this summer.
In an Instagram post, Jeff Bezos wrote that “Climate change is the biggest threat to our planet,” . And added that he wants to “work alongside others both to amplify known ways and to explore new ways of fighting the devastating impact of climate change on this planet we all share.”
Bezos Earth Fund will be there to support scientists, activists and NGOs, he adds. However, we are yet to know more about how the funds would be distributed and other information regarding those funds. However, it is also worth mentioning that this move from Amazon CEO is not only because he cares about the climate. But instead, Amazon employees have also pressurized their company to take action on climate which is why this might be a forceful move. In any case, we feel that these funds will bring a positive change which is what matters.
