Logitech which is primarily an accessory maker famous for its Keyboards and Mice has made a big announcement today. The company has revealed that they intend to acquire Blue Microphone. Now, blue Microphones, as you can guess by the name, is also an accessory maker which has expertize in making microphones.
Blue Microphones has already been in the news for making extremely popular podcasting mics like the Yeti and Snowball. Logitech has realized the value proposition that Blue Microphones will bring and so it has decided to acquire it.
Also, this is a logical decision as well because Logitech also makes gaming headsets and microphones of their own too. Now, with the acquisition of Blue Microphones, Logitech will be a huge force in the podcasting which is booming significantly in the recent days.
Also, the fact that Blue’s Yeti and Snowball not being high-end in terms of pricing helps matters as Logitech caters to a similar category. Moreover, Blue has also started to develop gaming handsets and microphones recently so Logitech will get a great headstart here as well.
On the occasion of this announcement, Logitech CEO came forward to share his thoughts regarding this decision. He said, “Logitech’s acquisition of Blue Microphones will accelerate our entry into a growing market, and offers another way for us to help bring people’s passions to life,”. Talking about the money involved in the acquisition, it is reported that Logitech will pay $117 million to Blue, that too, in cash.
This means that there are no hidden matters here and everything is as transparent as water. Logitech later clarified to TechCrunch that “Logitech is delighted to welcome all Blue employees plus contractors to Logitech. The brand is also welcomed into Logitech’s broader portfolio.”. They also informed that the Blue brand will still be there but their employees will be joining Logitech as mentioned above.
