Nokia Announces An Event To Be Held On December 5, Possibly For Nokia 8.1

nokia 8.1 rumored to be launch on december event

The CEO of HMD Global, Juho Sarvikas, has just announced through his Twitter account that on December 5th, that is, within a couple of weeks, there will be an event in Dubai. The tweet, published just a few hours ago, shows the hashtag #ExpectMore accompanied by a photo showing three devices that, in theory, and if the latest leaks are true, should be the Nokia 8.1.

The photo does not show too much beyond the frames of the terminal, but if we use Photoshop and apply some brightness and contrast we can see what a Nokia 7.1 looks like. It could be thought, therefore, that the event is to announce the launch of said terminal in the Arab Emirates, but it would be rare to make an event for such an announcement. Also, #ExpectMore does not make sense if you are going to talk about a terminal that is already known.

So, it is possible that the announced device is Nokia 8.1, which was recently leaked. It would be the international variant of the Nokia X7, which we already know since it was presented in China. This has a Snapdragon 710 processor (which would place the Nokia 8.1 in the premium midrange), up to 6 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of internal storage. Also, if we look at the photos of the Nokia X7 and the one published by Sarvikas we will see that both terminals are identical.

If so, the Nokia 8.1 would have, predictably, a screen of 6.18 inches with FullHD + resolution of 18.7: 9 that would occupy 86.5% of the front. That means, as the photo of the HMD Global CEO shows, that the terminal will have a notch. The camera, then, would be double in the back (12 + 13 megapixels) and simple in the front (20 megapixels).

That would give some barracks to Nokia to take out next year its flagship, the much-rumored Nokia 9 five-camera. For now, all we can do is wait for the day to come to get out of doubt.
