OnePlus has just released the update which was much awaited by OnePlus 5/5T users. This is the Android 9.0 Pie-based OxygenOS update. However, this is an Open Beta based on OxygenOS based upon Android 9.0 Pie and not the regular update. Therefore, all the OnePlus 5 and 5T users will not be able to get the update. Instead, you need to install the update manually on your devices if you want to taste Android 9.0 Pie
Now, it is already known that OnePlus released the Android 9.0 Pie update to OnePlus 6 already. On the other hand, OnePlus 6T is released with Android 9.0 Pie on board. Thus, it was time OnePlus 5 and 5T users got the update as well. Although this update is still not released to the public yet, it is a step in the right direction. As always, OnePlus had promised to release the Android 9.0 Pie update for OnePlus 5 and 5T very soon.
This update was expected to reach all the users before the end of 2018. Also, the release of Open Beta based on Android 9.0 Pie also gives hope for the official release to come soon. However, it might be delayed as well. This is because we have only 15+ days left for 2018 to end and only the first Open Beta build is released.
But there is always the case that the first build of Open Beta is stable enough for official release as well. If that’s the case then it is not a major surprise too. Because OnePlus has already taken its time for the release of Open Beta for Android 9.0 Pie as well. As for the specifics, the OnePlus 5 and 5T get Open Beta build 22/20 respectively. These builds, apart from being based on Android 9.0 Pie, also come with November security patch. This update also brings new DND mode and weather app improvements apart from general UI improvements and bug fixes.
