OnePlus might have just showcased its OnePlus 7 to the world. Yes, this might be true as the company has shown-off their 5G prototype smartphone at the MWC 2019. OnePlus had already announced earlier about their 5G booth at the Mobile World Congress. The company showcased 5G running on their OnePlus prototype device. Evidently, OnePlus’ prototype device was well under the wraps. This means that OnePlus did not want to show the device’s design to the world. Only the screen of the device was visible as it was fixed inside an encased boxing.
This also indicates the fact that it was not the OnePlus 6T running 5G. Because if that was the case, OnePlus would have openly showcased it as the OnePlus 6T 5G variant. Early speculations are towards the fact that this could be the OnePlus 7. We know that OnePlus launches their first-of-the-two flagship smartphones every year in the second quarter.
This means that we will see the OnePlus 7 launching anywhere between the month of April to June. According to OnePlus 7’s leaks which were available earlier, the device is expected to come with a slider camera. Also, the OnePlus prototype 5G device did not have a visible notch, be it waterdrop notch like OnePlus 6T or any other. This further points to the fact that it might be our first look at the OnePlus 7.
Interestingly, OnePlus’ 5G prototype device has an aspect ratio of 21:9. This aspect ratio is only seen on Xperia 1 from Sony which was launched at the MWC 2019 as well. Apart from that, OnePlus’ 5G prototype device runs on Snapdragon 855 SoC. Note that the Snapdragon 855 SoC comes with 5G support, as announced by Qualcomm. Also, the device had a Snapdragon X50 5G modem as well. If these are the configurations for OnePlus 7 then it should have 5G support as well.
