OnePlus has always been the company known for hyping things up and going to the non-traditional way of doing things such as smartphone launches. While we see that companies tend to hide some features of its smartphones to maintain some level of secrecy, it is the opposite with OnePlus. This Chinese smartphone maker wants people to know what its next smartphones will come up with and its strategy is also seen to be working. It is also seen that most OnePlus phones have already leaked before launch and there are also reports that the company plants its leaks to get the word across.
This might or might not be the case but the strategy works for OnePlus, it is well and good for them. Now, as per tradition, OnePlus CEO has published a new blog post where has revealed some of the features that their next flagship smartphones in the OnePlus 8 series will come with. As per this blog post, the RAM, CPU and storage of the phones have been revealed.
Pete Lau, the OnePlus CEO, has said that the OnePlus 8 series will come with Snapdragon 865 processor and it is already known that they will have 5G support for all the phones. On the other hand, the RAM on these phones will be LPDDR5 which will be an upgrade from last year’s LPDDR4x and is bound to be faster and give better performance in multitasking. Also, the storage on these phones will be UFS 3.0 which is quite faster than the UFS 2.0 or 2.1 storage seen on other phones that will offer much better read/write speeds comparatively.
Pete claims that Snapdragon 865 will offer “a 25% increase in performance in comparison with the last year’s models. It also delivers a more power-efficient video encoder and DSP”. However, all these revelations also mean that the price of OnePlus 8 series is bound to go up this year. We can also see this post as a justification of OnePlus’ price increase for the OnePlus 8 series.
