Apple released the latest iPhone 8 series along with the iPhone X last year as well. However, the announcements of new products did not end there. Apple also released their wireless earphones named as Airpods. Now, this announcement was also due to the fact that Apple removed headphone jacks from their latest iPhones so they had to provide a wireless alternative. However, this alternative from Apple is not cheap at all and may cost more than a mid-range Android smartphone. But, the thing that is going for AirPods is the build quality and premium design as well as sound output.
Now, we are halfway through this year and Apple is all set to release the next iPhones in September later this year. As far as iPhones are concerned, we are yet to see some substantial leaks. However, we now have a report which is in regards to the iPhone as well. According to this report by Nikkie Asian Review, Apple will release an AirPod charging case this year which will support iPhone charging as well. This reports points to the fact that Apple iPhone 8 series and the iPhone X come with wireless charging. According to NAR, the iPhone users “will soon be able to wirelessly charge their handsets using the charging case for Apple’s popular AirPods wireless earphones, according to an industry source familiar with the plan.”
Now, we have our doubts about this report and we will explain them in this post. First of all, AirPods have a battery capacity which is 1/4th of iPhones so how can the AirPods case charge an iPhone. On the other hand, it could be possible that the iPhones could get the ability to charge AirPods by transferring the charge wirelessly on the go. Also, we have known that Apple announced AirPower charging mat which could wirelessly charge iPhone and AirPods at the same time. However, 9 months have passed since the announcement and there are no signs of it releasing anytime soon.
