Samsung Electronics is known to be one of the largest smartphone company out there along with the likes of Apple. Now, we have known that Samsung earlier announced its plans to manufacture its smartphones in India in order to boost sales by reducing costs.
It seems that the day has finally arrived as Samsung India has announced the inauguration of their smartphone manufacturing plant in India. This plant by Samsung is located in Noida which is next to the capital of India, Delhi. One more thing that is worth knowing about is that Samsung claims that this is the world’s largest smartphone manufacturing plant.
Apart from that, the opening of this plant will be done by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi as well as the President of South Korea, Moon. Now, this will also be a major boost to the Make in India project that has been emphasized time and again by the Indian Prime Minister in order to boost the manufacturing sector of India which in turn will produce new jobs. The Samsung factory which is located in Sector 81 in Noida now has a double production capacity of 120 million mobile devices a month.
It is also understood that Samsung has built this massive manufacturing plant in order to boost their smartphone production capacity as the Indian market is about to touch the 340 million smartphone users mark by the end of 2018. Apart from smartphones, Samsung will also manufacture refrigerators in this plant as well.
Samsung India official has said that the components will be assembled in the Noida factory of both its smartphones and refrigerators. Samsung had already announced their expansion plans of the Noida facility last year and the company announced an investment of Rs. 4,915 crore in the expansion of this factory which has now been completed within a year of announcement.
