As you might already know, the MWC 2020 was cancelled last week due to the coronavirus epidemic which means that the companies now have to rely on their individual press events for releasing their new phones.
For companies too, MWC is a good place to announce their new products as the world press is at the event. Since the show has been cancelled, we see that companies will launch their products separately.
And the first of those announcements is from Sony and they have launched their new phones they have been working on. For the first product announcement, Sony has launched its first 5G smartphone which is the Xperia 1 II which is also called as the Sony Xperia 1 Mark II. If you see a similarity between the names of Sony’s DSLR in the Mark series and this phones then you are correct.
Because Sony says that its new phone is targeted for photographers and they have added many features from their mirrorless cameras to this phone.
As for the display, the smartphone has a 21:9 6.5-inch 4K OLED HDR display. Along with that, Sony’s latest Xperia device also has a Dolby Atmos capability and 5G modem.
Sony’s device geared for photographers comes with a triple 12MP camera setup each which consists of a wide lens, primary sensor and an ultra-wide sensor as well. Apart from that, the fourth sensor is 3D ToF one for depth sensing.
While Sony has not added a higher refresh rate display on this phone, it still claims its motion blur reduction is “equivalent to that of a 90Hz display.”
The most important part of Sony’s phone is that it has a headphone jack. So if you are someone who wants the 3.5mm jack at all costs with latest specifications then Sony Xperia 1 MK II is your only option in 2020.
