This AI can detect if you have life-threatening heart conditions or not

You might have seen some great applications of Artificial Intelligence these days which are really useful as well. However, we are here to tell you about an AI system which can save your life as well. Yes, we are here to you that an AI system has been developed which can detect heart conditions in humans which are life-threatening.

At the recent Apple iPhone event, Apple talked about how many lives its Apple Watch has saved thanks to the built-in ECG which shows abnormal heart conditions and tells you if a visit to the physician is needed or not. Now, we are sure that there is some sort of AI application inside the Apple Watch series by Apple as well. However, it also uses some physical sensors to detect your heart rate, pulse and more. Similarly, this AI can do the same by just looking at your ECG data of the past 15 minutes.

RiskCardio, the AI system developed by researchers at the MIT, can detect if you have risk of death due to cardiovascular issues that reduce or block blood flow in your body. This system is so powerful that it can detect if the person is likely to die in the next 30 days or even up to a year later. All this happens just by reading your 15 minutes ECG data which lets the system know about your blood flow, pulse rate and other factors that should be taken into account.

For this system, the approach taken into account is that greater variability between heartbeats reflects greater risk. Therefore, if your heartbeats are not normal for a prolonged period of 15 minutes then the system detects a problem. Researchers believe that RiskCardio can prove pivotal to health care if and when it comes into the system. But we believe that will take some time as more refinements are needed in the system.
