Google just announced something that will be loved and appreciated by Assistant fans in India. The company revealed that you can now make its Assistant work offline as well. On top of that, the search engine giant said that Indian users can now make phone calls to their Google Assistant.
Yes, this means that just like you dial phone numbers to your relatives, you can do so to a Google Assistant. Google says that Vodafone Idea network users can dial 000-800-9191-000 to talk to a Google Assistant. Also, the calls made to Google Assistant will be absolutely free.
This means that if you are somewhere at a location where mobile network is available but the internet is slow then you can just make a call to Google Assistant. Not only will you be able to get the information needed, but you will also not need the internet for the same.
Apart from that, two of the most widely-spoken languages in the country are supported at launch, English and Hindi. Google also says that support for more languages will be added soon.
Right now, Google has tied up with Vodafone Idea only for this toll-free Google Assistant service but we believe more operators like Reliance Jio and Airtel might be added to the list soon. However, you should note that since this is a calling service, Google Assistant will not be able to access your account and give personal information.
But you can still get general information from the internet without having an internet connection. Some of the examples for queries to Google Assistant could be search results, local store listings, weather data or news.
It is also revealed that a trial run was held in Indian cities, Lucknow and Kanpur, which obviously went according to plan. Therefore, this service is now available across the country and you can make calls from anywhere as long as you are a Vodafone Idea subscriber.
