The first cell phone I owned is Motorola. After a long gap again I’m holding Motorola company’s budget-friendly Android smartphone Motorola Moto G 2nd generation. The demand for high-end features at low-end prices thus produced an unstable mindset for users to choose the perfect phone to fit the budget. For a satisfying smartphone experience, I was looking for a smartphone with a premium look, uncompromising hardware, hand fullness, and pocket-friendly. Finally, I found the Moto G 2nd Generation.
The $179 Moto G 2nd generation is different. It’s a real budget smartphone.
Moto G 2nd Generation Display & Features
The new handset with a 5-inch display, 720×1280 resolution is a good upgrade option over the first-gen 4.5-inch display. The screen is protected by corning Gorilla Glass 3 offer protection against sudden drops.
The display is big and bright, it works well indoors and outdoors. The display is good and it can be compared with Nexus 5 quality. The contrast is similar to AMOLED display in spite of having LCD panel. It is sharper, brighter, bigger, and just nicer to look at than the previous model.
As far as the specifications go, the new Moto G has a 5-inch 720p IPS display with Corning Glass, Android 4.4 KitKat, powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor along with 1GB of RAM. The battery is 2070mAh and it has a MicroSD card slot up to 32GB support. The connectivity options include dual-SIM, 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and micro USB.
Motorola Moto G 2nd Generation Review: Performance
As we already know the device is powered by 450 MHz 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor. The processing speed is the same as first-gen Moto G. The speed is good and it handles Android 4.4.4 KitKat well. For gamer’s the phone sometimes lags to handle heavy RAM consumption games. Overall, the gaming performance is smooth. We played games like Plant vs Zombies 2, Dead Trigger 2 and GT Racing without any lag.
Motorola already proved that a good smartphone, the AnTuTu benchmark showed good performance result with a score of 18754. The interchangeable plastic back covers provide a bit of external color and variety to fashionable people to match the color with personal style.
Motorola has done a good job by continuing design style to the next-gen of Moto G. The back of the phone has the same curved design as Motorola’s other phones. My review sample is a black-colored device, and the back panel has a soft finish and gives a perfect grip in your hand.
Camera Quality
The camera quality is superb, it comes with an 8 MP camera rear and 2MP front camera. The features like LED flash, autofocus, geo-tagging, HDR mode and touch focus are the essential features of Moto G 2nd gen.

Call Quality & Battery Life
I made calls, sent and received texts. The Signal quality is good in indoor and outdoors. Battery life is good for one day’s use with the included non-removable 2070mAh. If you decrease the brightness and turn off the WiFi when not in use the battery can easily run into the second day.
Verdict
Android becomes the most prominent operating system for smartphones. Taking the advantage of Android 4.4.4 KitKat the Motorola’s Moto G 2nd Generation became an affordable smartphone for most. Motorola’s done everything right with the phone itself. It has all the features required by daily usage. For price-conscious people, Moto G 2nd gen is a good option to buy.
