Most awaited Moto X Play arrived in the market. Headlines about the Moto X Play is it’s Battery Power and Camera performance. As there is no nearby competitor with a huge Battery tank and high-performance Camera in the Mid-Price range, Moto X Play got its place in the market with more space.
Motorola is a Premium brand in the Smartphone market with a strong impact over all of their releases. Almost none of their products flopped heavily, which adds more advantage to this brand. They proved their premium brand factor once again with X Play. Let’s get into the details of Moto X Play.
Build Quality and Design
The Front of Moto X Play looks as usual like other Moto Phones, A clean and Neat look. The Back side has a curvy Arc Design which looks better than the usual Flat Design. The phone edges have 8.9mm thick while the curved center has 10.9mm thick and weighing 169 grams.
It has an LCD Display with a 5.5inch screen and stunning 1920 x 1080 screen resolution. We get real life image clarity in the screen with the screen density of 403ppi. The magic of LCD display with 403ppi Screen density is working great and no Smartphone in the mid range can match with this display quality. Display options show 2 modes, normal, and vibrant. Normal mode gives a real life look at the images and vibrant mode enhance the images using Color saturation. normal mode looks better than the vibrant mode in our opinion.
The phone look solid and strong in build quality and like in almost all smartphones, using Corning Gorilla Glass 3 to protect the screen. Also mentioned by the Motorola that the phone had a Nano coating all over it surface and it acts as Water Repellent. There are some doubts over the Moto X play’s “water Repellent Nano-Coating” term, as it is not generally seen in Smartphone specs. We found that water repellent term simply mean that Phone is not water resistant and in case, the X Play fall in a pool of water, the phone may go dead or spoiled in hardware. At the same time, a sudden rainfall or splash of Swimming Pool won’t affect the phone much if you kept it in your pocket.
Overall Build and Design is better than the previous editions of Moto X. And proved once again the Moto’s Brand Quality.
Performance
Moto X Play comes with the latest Android Lollipop 5.1.1 and packed with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 Processor Chipset. CPU is Dual Quad-core Cortex A53 with a clock speed up to 1.7 GHz in one and 1Ghz in another and GPU is Adreno 405. This Chipset adds more value to the Phone. Graphical games like Asphalt 8 and Dead Trigger 2 runs smoothly without any stutter or lagging in the screen. Also, the multi-tasking performance is better than other phones in the Mid-range.
The 2Gb RAM is enough for basic to a high-level usage of CPU. We felt that while gaming. The Internal storage has 2 options 16Gb and 32Gb. We all know a 16Gb Internal Storage is not enough for Smartphone at present. So, better pick the 32Gb Internal storage while buying. External Storage can be extended up to 128Gb, which is satisfying. Also, Moto X Play has 4G LTE, the fastest Internet connectivity for a smartphone.
Overall the performance is a little bit better than the Moto X previous editions and most of the mid-range phones in the recent times. Though there are some phones with better performance and processor than Moto X Play, No one has the equivalent battery power of this phone.
Battery and Camera Features
The top most feature of Moto X Play is the Powerful 3630mAh Battery and 21Mp Camera. Some people may don’t consider the 21MP as a good Camera, but here you would note the Display quality which features 1080 pixels and the real life Picture quality, which elevates the Picture Quality to look better than other phones with same 21Mp camera. The Camera features include Auto Focus, 4X Zoom, Auto HDR, Panorama, Night Mode and Burst Mode. The Front camera is 5MP and the results are better than expected due to the display quality.
The Battery is on top of all features. The main complaint of Smartphone users is battery draining hardly while gaming, browsing or watching movies. But, the Moto X Play’s 3630mAh battery stands up to 13-15 hours of continuous usage of playing videos, browsing, gaming etc. On normal usage, it stands more than 1 and a half day. It is top, no more words to describe its performance.
The Battery capacity is the real blockbuster, but there is one more thing that adds value to the device. That is Turbo Charge facility, it enables that jumbo battery to charge within 1 hour. But, a downside is it is not bundled with the Mobile Phone package, you have to purchase it as extra. Otherwise, you can use the normal charger to power the Battery.
