Honor 8X Max Review

Huawei has been making its debut with some great devices and with those they have been ruling the Indian market. They had devices with full view screen, screens with notches of every type, and now they are going a step forward with extreme display sizes.

Another device in the market is not always the best thing, but for Honor, it had always been, because they have been providing updates to even their old devices and hence people looking to another device will surely be believing towards new updates coming to these also.

Talking about the Honor 8X Max there are a lot of different things which are worth talking about, so today we are going to talk about the huge screen, the all-new design, and another set of different things that are going to set the Honor 8X Max apart from the other devices in the market, and will clutter more and more buyers for the new devices.

Design & Build

Huawei this time have loaded the premium design in this smartphone, the Honor 8X Max comes with a large display on the front, but apart from the display we have a chin on the bottom where we have the Honor branding on to the phone, above the display we have the front camera which is in there with a notch and is surrounded by the screen.

On the back side of the phone, we have the dual camera set up in the vertical form, there is another Honor branding on the phone on the bottom left side of the phone. The fingerprint scanner is something that is not skimped on the phone and hence we have it at the center of the phone at the back side.

Talking about the build of the phone we have the phone as a glass unit on the front, but on the back, we do not have glass but a metallic build which makes it tough and less prone to damage. The phone is quite slim at just 8.1mm thick and hence you will have a nice time holding the phone.

Also, the Honor 8X Max has one of the best weight distribution with the devices of the same price range, and hence although the phone is quite bulky still feels quite good and will surely going to be nice in one’s hand.

Display

Honor 8X Max as the name says is loaded with a large display size of 7.12 – inches which happens to have a resolution of 1080 x 2244 pixels, this also results into a unique aspect ratio of 18.7:9 and it is something which will be unique to this phone for a long time. The phone having quite a large display results the overall screen to have a relatively low pixel density of 350ppi and is quite low. Coming to the type of display panel used we have it as IPS LCD one.

Coming to the real world performance of the display we have it as the best in class display, although it is an IPS LCD one the contrast levels on the panel are quite good, and you will have a nice time looking at the content on the display.

Although do note that in the daytime you will have to stress your eyes when you are looking after the content, but during the night time you will have a nice time as you will have no issues in viewing the display in the dark and hence you will have the best device for viewing content at night time before sleeping.

Performance

Huawei has made another great addition to the device by loading it with the best in class processor from Qualcomm the Snapdragon 636, although it has started to show its age in the new device lineup, but for sure it can make this device live for another 3 to 4 years with the help of 6GB of RAM which is accompanying it for smoothing the performance of the device. Although there are 2 different versions of the device wherein one we have 64GB Internal Storage and 4GB RAM, while the other one is 6GB RAM and 128GB of Internal Storage.

Coming to the performance in daily life, the phone can easily outperform most of the devices with similar specifications, at the end of the day you will have a device that can find ways with most of the applications and make sure that you can play almost all the games without any issues.

Do note that you will not be able to play high-end games, and you will have issues with the gaming performance when you are playing at the top graphics settings. Rest of the multi-tasking is going to be great, and you will have a device that will make way with most of the applications without any issue.

Camera

Huawei’s Honor 8X Max comes preloaded with two different camera setup on the back where the primary sensor is a 16 MP one with f/2.0 aperture while the other sensor is used for depth sensing and is just a 2MP sensor.

Rear setup uses Phase Detect Auto Focus and this will make the phone lack behind in focusing especially during the night times. On the front, we have an 8MP selfie sensor which comes with f/2.0 aperture and hence you will have some great selfies in the daytime and even during the low lighting situations.

In daily performance, the phone does have a nice time in capturing the images, and you will have a great time flaunting those images captured by the 8X Max in front of your friends on social media.

The images are only great for social media, and not for more than that, there are times when in the night time you will feel the device getting poor image results and that is due to the shortcoming of the phone. At the end of the day you will get some good images due to the software that is loaded on to the phone, and hence you will have some cool images with great bokeh effects.

Battery

Honor 8X Max comes with a 5000 mAh battery and hence you will have the best of time In using the phone the day long. When you are using the phone the day long do note that the phone will take almost the same time to get charged.

The phone will enable you to talk with your friends for over 12 hours and hence you will still have time to use WhatsApp, and other social media as the talk time of this phone is quite great, only if the internet is off. Charging the phone takes a lot of time and hence overnight charges are mostly suggested.

Verdict

Huawei has always been the master when it comes to making some great phones, and especially in recent days, they have been making some great devices. When it comes to the best in class screen, the best in class camera, and the best in class performance Huawei always takes the credit, and this phone will surely help them take the credit with the best in the class smartphone.
