Best Low MB Games to play on Android Online and Offline [2020]

Looking for low MB games that still feel like proper games? Below are 23 small Android games that are still on Google Play right now. Most of them play fully offline, a few have online modes, and several are under 20 MB. If your phone is low on storage or you are on a tight data pack, start with the quick table and pick what suits you.

Big multiplayer titles look great, but they can eat several GB and need a strong phone. Not everyone has that, and not everyone wants to give up half their internal storage for one game. That is where these lightweight games come in. We have gone through our old list, removed the games that are no longer on the Play Store, checked the sizes again and added a few new picks.

Low MB games at a glance

Best Low MB Action & Shooter Games for Android

Not everyone has the time or the storage for a high-end shooter like Hitman Sniper, which is still a great game. If you want something lighter, these picks will get you going right away.

1. Modern Sniper

Modern Sniper

Modern Sniper is a simple 3D shooter where you take out targets from different locations and angles. You get real-world weapons, several maps and plenty of missions to work through.

The gameplay is casual and straightforward, which makes it great for short breaks. You can upgrade weapons or remove ads with in-app purchases, so we do recommend a parental lock on Play Store purchases if kids use your phone.

Offline or online: Offline. Size: About 10 MB, which makes it one of the smallest shooters you can get.

Get Modern Sniper from here.

2. Shadow Fighter

Shadow Fighter

Shadow Fighter is a hack and slash action RPG. You pick a hero, run through stages and clear out monsters with your blade. There are different difficulty modes, and daily quests help you unlock better weapons.

It is still being updated regularly, and it is a fun way to let off some steam after a long day. Just keep in mind it is a fighting game, so it may not suit very young kids.

Offline or online: Offline. Size: Small download.

Get Shadow Fighter from here.

3. West Gunfighter

West Gunfighter

A classic cowboy game where you ride horses, take on bandits and earn money in a small open world. It runs smoothly even on budget phones.

There are lots of quests and activities to keep you busy, and you can customise your cowboy or cowgirl, horses and weapons along the way. If you like Wild West stories, do not skip this one.

Offline or online: Offline. Size: Roughly 26 to 56 MB, depending on the version.

Get West Gunfighter from here.

4. Sky Fighters 3D

Sky Fighters 3D

If you love planes, this one is for you. You fly fighter jets through air-to-air and air-to-ground missions, and the 3D graphics look surprisingly good for such a small game.

The controls are smooth and easy to learn. You can unlock more planes with in-app purchases, and there are ads, but they do not get in the way much during actual flying.

Offline or online: Offline. Size: About 28 MB.

Get Sky Fighters 3D from here.

5. Solitaired

Solitaired

Okay, this is not an action game, but it is a great low MB pick for quiet moments. Solitaired gives you hundreds of solitaire and card games, including Klondike, Spider, FreeCell and Pyramid, plus a game of the day and AI hints when you are stuck.

The classic solitaire games work without internet, and there are online modes too. You can also play on their official website, here.

Offline or online: Both. Size: Small download.

Get Solitaired Here or play online.

Best Low MB Racing Games for Android

Racing games are usually the biggest downloads on any phone. These are among the lighter ones that still look good, so they are a nice answer if you want low MB games with high graphics.

1. Riptide GP2

Riptide GP2

Riptide GP2 is a paid racing game where you ride hydro jets and pull off crazy stunts on the water. The water effects still look great, and you can pick low, medium or high graphics to match your phone.

Offline or online: Both. Size: About 65 to 85 MB. If you have some credits in your Google Play account (you can earn free credits through Google Opinion rewards by filling quick surveys), it is well worth the price.

Get Riptide GP2 from here.

Beach Buggy Blitz

Another fun game from the makers of Riptide GP2, and this one is free. You drive a modified buggy through an endless island, smash through obstacles and grab powerups as you go.

Offline or online: Offline. Size: About 63 to 80 MB.

Get Beach Buggy Blitz from here.

3. Hill Climb Racing (new pick)

Hill Climb Racing is one of the most downloaded racing games on Android, and for good reason. You drive up bumpy hills, balance your vehicle so it does not flip, and collect coins to upgrade your ride. The cartoon graphics are simple, so it runs well even on older phones.

How to save space when installing games

Even small games add up over time. Here are a few simple ways to keep your phone from filling up:

  1. Check the size before you install. On the Play Store, open the game and look at the “About this game” section, or just watch the download progress. If it says it needs extra data after install, it will use more space than the first download.
  2. Clear the cache now and then. Go to Settings > Apps, pick the game, open Storage and tap Clear cache. This frees space without deleting your progress.
  3. Turn on auto-archive. In the Play Store, tap your profile picture, go to Settings > General and turn on Automatically archive apps. Games you do not use get archived, but your saved data stays.
  4. Use an SD card. If your phone has a memory card slot, you can use the SD card as internal storage to get more room for games.
  5. Delete games you have finished. If a game syncs with Google Play Games, your progress is usually saved, so you can reinstall it later.
  6. Download on Wi-Fi. This does not save storage, but it does save your mobile data, which is just as useful if you are on a small pack.

Frequently asked questions

Which is the best low MB game for Android?

It depends on what you like. For action, Modern Sniper and Sky Fighters 3D are great and small. For racing, Beach Buggy Blitz and Hill Climb Racing are easy picks. For puzzles, Simon Tatham’s Puzzles gives you 40 games in about 8 MB.

Which low MB games can I play offline?

Almost every game on this list works offline, including Modern Sniper, Shadow Fighter, West Gunfighter, 3D Tennis, Tank Hero, Drop Stack Ball, Mekorama and all the puzzle games. Riptide GP2, Perfect Kick and Solitaired have both offline and online modes, while Lichess is mainly online.

Are there low MB games with high graphics?

Yes. Riptide GP2, Beach Buggy Blitz, Sky Fighters 3D and Prince of Persia: Escape all look great for their size. They are a bit bigger than the puzzle games, but still far smaller than most big-name titles.

Why does a game take more space than its download size?

The download is compressed. Once installed, the game unpacks its files, and it may also save cache, progress and extra content over time. So a game that downloads at 10 MB can easily use 20 to 30 MB on your phone.

That is it for our list of the best low MB games for Android. Each of them is great for a quick break, and none of them will eat up your storage. Do let us know in the comments which games made it to your favourite pastime, and if there is a small game you think we should add.
