Fixing the Zoom camera not working issue is simple and straightforward. These are trial and error methods, you have to go through list one by one and check the issue is fixed or not after completing each method.
1. The webcam is not selected in Zoom
We found many people are having this issue by forgetting the selection of webcam during a call. Make sure to connect it by selecting the up arrow next to the camera icon and make sure the webcam is chosen.
2. The camera is disabled in device settings
In some cases, the device settings are the real culprits of the error. Go to the camera settings on your Windows, or macOS and make sure it is not disabled.
3. Outdated drivers
Technically it is proven that outdated drivers cause many errors in device connections. If the webcam driver is outdated then there may be a chance of camera not connecting error. Download the latest drivers of the webcam from the company official website. Or you can take the help of third-party driver updater tools.
4. Interference of the other programs
If you are using many programs parallelly with Zoom, in some cases if the other programs have access to your camera the Zoom will fail to identify the camera. Close the other programs which have access to your camera. For example, if you are running Zoom along with other video conferencing tools, it may cause the error. Closing the other programs which are using your camera connection can fix the issue.
5. Faulty camera hardware or USB issues
If your USB port has a problem, you may end up with webcam not detecting issue in Zoom. USB ports sometimes suddenly stop working because of either software or hardware failure. Restart your computer for a quick fix of the USB not detecting the error. If anything stuck inside the USB port, clean it with a toothpick or any small plastic item.
Or use the other available USB ports on your computer for a quick fix. Try inserting the camera again and check the issue is fixed or not.
6. Restart your device
You may be using either Windows or macOS, rebooting a device fixes most technical problems which are unable to fix manually. If any problem causing program or error is running in the background, a simple reboot will stop all the issues and starts with default settings.
7. Tweak Zoom Video settings
Like every program, Zoom has advanced video settings option which lets you tweak the video playback settings. Settings gear, then choose the Video tab and select Advanced to adjust these options.
8. Reinstall Zoom
If everything still same, now uninstall the Zoom and install a fresh copy of the program on your computer. In most of cases, installing the latest copy of the program will fix all the technical issues.
