Do you have a lot of unused WhatsApp numbers on your smartphone? In this article, we will focus on deleting them to make some space for other contacts. To have a cleaner, short, contact list, deleting the WhatsApp contacts that you no longer interact with can be a good start. Even though the process is very similar to deleting your regular contacts from the contact application available on your smartphone, those who do not have any idea about doing that can follow this guide.
Steps to Delete a Number in WhatsApp
- Open WhatsApp on your smartphone or tablet.
- Navigate to the Chats tab.
- Then tap New chat.
- Select the contact you want to delete.
- Tap the name of the contact.
- Tap Edit.
- Scroll to the bottom and then tap on the Delete Contact option.
That’s it, you have successfully deleted the contact from your WhatsApp contacts list. From now on, the contact will not be visible on the list. You can repeat the same steps for all the contacts you would like to be removed from your WhatsApp contact list.
If you do not want to go through these steps to delete a contact from your WhatsApp contact list, you can simply use the contacts application available on your smartphone to remove the contact. WhatsApp is automatically integrated with the contacts on your device. That means making changes to any of the contacts will also take effect inside WhatsApp. So simply deleting a contact using the phone book application will also remove it from your WhatsApp contacts. So if you want to delete multiple contacts at once, this would be a better option than individually deleting them inside WhatsApp.
Also keep in mind that, deleting the contact from your phone’s contact list will not affect the WhatsApp chats you had with them. If you also want to delete the WhatsApp chats, you will have to do that separately.
