Essential Phone: Andy Rubin Teases Bezel-Less Display With Modular Approach

Andy Rubin

Andy Rubin has teased an image of the upcoming Essential Phone on Twitter. Although we are unable to view the full image of the phone, Rubin has revealed a small portion of the handset in the Red color background. Moreover, the display of the Essential phone is expected to be bezel-less, which is only available in high-end premium smartphones.

The leaked image reveals that the top portion is also bezel free. However, the image doesn’t reveal the sensors located on the top side of the rumored handset. Hence, we are unable to confirm whether the sensors are indeed placed on the top portion. That said, the display is fully switched on as is evident from the picture.

I'm really excited about how this is shaping up. Eager to get it in more people's hands… pic.twitter.com/LRzQCFSKTm

According to the company sources, the handset provides an ability to fetch new hardware-related features over time. The main advantage of the Essential phone is that it will provide a capability to shoot 360-degree images.

Touted to be the modular phone, the lower portion of the Essential phone is also dubbed to be free from bezels. It is practically impossible to design a phone with 50 percent bezel free. Hence, the whole display should be bezel-free. With the red background leaking out, we can surely experience a great phone before the end of 2017.

Essential Modular Phone

Based on the first impressions of the image, we expect that the forthcoming Essential phone should be better than Google Pixel. Rubin was part of Google’s Android team, and hence he knows all the stuff and secrets.

We have seen the integration of a bezel-less display in Xiaomi Mi Mix. Moreover, the upcoming Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ will also ship with a bezel-less display. The Essential Phone will set new benchmarks in the smartphones because of the addition of a bezel-free display, modular approach to the design of the phone and the ability to capture 360-degree photos.

We will continue to keep track of the developments revolving around the Essential phone. We hope the company will launch the phone by the middle of 2017. Stay tuned.
