We have seen that the future of our workflow, as well as the surroundings, is expected to look vastly different from what we have right now. People have been saying that the future lies in Augmented Reality as well as Virtual Reality which are two entirely huge topics in its own right.
As far as augmented reality is concerned, it is the art of seeing objects which are not there. For example, AR is used to measure and place objects in order to have a taste of how they would look in reality.
As far as Virtual Reality is concerned, it is the art of a totally different reality which is virtual in nature and might or might not come to reality. Now that we have understood AR and VR are our future, companies have been developing apps and platforms based on these technologies and we have a new development.
Facebook has just released a teaser regarding AR and VR which also involves remote working. For those who are not aware, Facebook CEO had announced that they are live-streaming their internal town hall meeting for the first time which took place yesterday.
This is an employees-only meeting but Mark Zuckerberg said that this is being done for others to have an idea of how they can also adapt remote working in the future. Facebook head of AR and VR also says that his company is “supercharging remote work and productivity” during the COVID-19 pandemic and will continue to do so in the future.
That is also after the announcement from Facebook CEO that their employees will be allowed to work remotely through the end of this year. From an eight-second video shared by Facebook, we can see a “few floating displays, which are quickly resized and rearranged by the user with a form of touch gesture that looks like a pinch, drag, and zoom”. This is how Facebook plans to make their employees work remotely with interactions possible.
