Last Saturday, at 2018 INS World Conference held in Beijing, Honor President George Zhao announced the first 5G smartphone of Huawei subsidiary brand will be available in the market in 2019.
We’ve been hearing about how our 5G connectivity will change our lives for years , but so far this technology seemed like something from a distant future. Instead, we are getting closer to embrace the 5G networks , and from next year we can witness their deployment.
Qualcomm Snapdragon began to perform the first real tests on 5G networks at the end of last year, and already then predicted that the first compatible smartphones with this connectivity would arrive in 2019.
On the other hand, the 3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Project), the international collaboration group of telecommunications associations that governs the standards of smartphone networks held in December 2017, approved the first standard of the 5G New Radio (NR) technology , corresponding to the phase known as Non-Standalone (NSA) , which used the existing 4G network as an anchor for administration and mobile coverage.
Later, in June of this year, the 3GPP approved the final standard “Release 15”, an important step forward in order to start up commercial 5G networks and start the first large-scale tests in 2019. And it’s about the first standard of the Standalone phase, that is to say that it no longer depends on the 4G network to work.
All this work has paved the way for the deployment of 5G, which is expected to start next year. And how could it be otherwise, the manufacturers of mobile phones are preparing to receive this new connectivity that will bring so many benefits to users.
Xiaomi has indicated that the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 will have support for 5G, OnePlus has also dropped that next year it will launch a compatible terminal and Huawei announced its first 5G mobile by June 2019. Now, the first 5G mobile is added to this list of Honor , which will enter the market next year, although an approximate date has not been confirmed.
