Reasons are so many to avoid a phone call, it is very frustrating when you receive an unwanted phone call in the middle of a meeting, classroom or any other situation.
In recent years there are so many spam calls are disturbing our privacy and time. Choosing a simple method to block a phone number is quite tough. But we’ve managed to handle unwanted calls without switching off the phone.
Now let’s take a look at our simple solutions to block unwanted phone calls.
1. For Android
Android OS provides the easiest way to stop or block unwanted calls easily. Simply navigate to Settings > Call > Call Rejection > Auto Reject List > Create. Here create a list of numbers you want to avoid on your mobile. After adding the device will stop unwanted calls instantly.
2. For iOS
In iOS, we have a very easy solution for blocking an incoming phone number. This trick works on devices running iOS 7 and iOS 8 or later. When you receive an unwanted call it will reside in the recent contacts list. Go to recent contacts list and click on the “i” symbol next to the unwanted number. Now scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click on “Block this caller option” to avoid calls permanently. 3. Do Not Call Register
If you are a US residence you can stop the unwanted calls by registering with the National Do Not Call Registry. Or you can directly call 1-888-382-1222 from the number you want to keep silent from disturbances.
4. Carrier Blocking Help
Some carriers provide a way to block unwanted numbers by using their special services. AT&T offers a free service called “Spam control for wireless“. It blocks the numbers you want to avoid and also it can limit the call and texts using this service.
Verizon offers Spam control feature, using the service you can add up to 5 phone numbers to avoid calls and texts.
Sprint users can block calls that are outside of the contact list by Settings > Security > Others > Call settings.
5. Using Third Party Services
Some third-party services like YouMail and TrapCall help you to block calls, voicemails and unmask private numbers. These are premium services and you need to pay some money to avail its features.
6. Mobile Number Portability
If you are in India you can change the carrier without changing your number using Mobile Number Portability (You can visit TRAI website for this.) If you want to get rid of telemarketers and spam calls you can simply change the carrier of your choice.
7. Using Caller ID Apps
There are plenty of caller ID apps available for smartphones. They will not only allow you to see the details of the caller but will also let you block unwanted promotional phone calls. Once a number is blocked, you will never get annoyed by that number. The app will block the call even without you noticing it. It will be like you never received such a call.
