Nowadays, most of the people must be using Twitter on a daily or regular basis. For these users, it is a must to stay connected to the world. To stay connected, you must be having an internet connection of some sort. If you are browsing the world wide web via a WiFi having unlimited data without FUP then you are among the luckier ones.
However, not everyone is as lucky as you and most of us have a metered connection. These may be in terms of a FUP per day or just limited data per month.
Therefore, you must be finding ways to cut on your daily data usage and use it on apps such as Twitter or Facebook. Now, Twitter has introduced a new feature named as ‘Data Saver’. This feature does exactly what it is named as. In order to find and enable this feature, you need to update your Twitter for Android or iOS to its latest version. After that, go to Settings and Privacy inside Settings of the Twitter app on whichever platform you use.
Here, you will find the option to enable Data Saver for your Twitter app inside the Data Usage section. Just enable it and you will see a significant decrease in your data usage. What this feature does is it does not auto load images and videos inside your app as it did before. Therefore, it will reduce data usage significantly.
- Open your Twitter profile.
- Here, open Settings and privacy,
- Now tap on Data Usage option under General section.
- Now tap on the Data Saver Checkbox to enable the option.
That’s it.
The Data Saver won’t be playing videos automatically either. If you want to play a video, you will have to click on it manually. Also, the images will be reduced in lower resolution and then loaded which reduces data usage too. This is most useful when traveling abroad or if you are using a Data connection which charges a premium for using their services.
