There are some chances of getting back your data from the corrupted files in Windows. Follow the below steps carefully to get back your data from corrupted Windows files.
1. Renaming file format
Renaming the file format is the basic step towards to get back the corrupted files. For example, if a PNG file is changed to some strange format, you can revert it by renaming the extension.

2. SFC Scan
SFC scan is a simple task to find and fix corrupted files on Windows. If a particular program is preventing a file from opening then the SFC scan will fix the issue automatically.
- To run SFC scan press Windows + R to open the run box and type cmd to open the command prompt.
- Now type sfc/scannow and hit enter to execute the command.
- The scan will start and takes some time to find and fix the corrupted files.
3. Try different programs to open files
During the system crash, either file may be corrupted or the program is unable to open the default file type. For example, a Word document can be opened by many Office suite programs. If a document file is corrupted and not opening by the MS Office, then use an alternate program like Libre Office or Apache Open Office to open the file.
If a video file is corrupted, then try to open it by programs like Pot Player or VLC Media player to play the file. These programs support a vast number of codecs which are not available in the Windows Media Player by default.
4. Use file repair tools
If you are not successful in the above methods, you can take the help third-party file repair tools. However, you need to purchase a license to fully recover the corrupted files. Usually, these programs come with a limited number of file recovery as a demo. Some programs only preview the items and you can recover completely only after entering the full license.
Hetman File Repair Software, File Repair, Repair Toolbox, Office FIX, Stellar File Repair Tool kit, are the best examples of third-party file repair programs.
