If you have been a Windows 10 user from a long time, you might know that many browsers such as Chrome allow you to select a location where you want to save the file you are downloading.
This helps you later as you can understand where your file has been downloaded and later find it from that location.
However, the thing is that not all browsers let you decide a download location and some have their own default location created somewhere on your PC. So you have to find out where the files are downloaded and saved which can be a tedious task.
Therefore, we are here to tell you how to find a recently downloaded file on Windows 10 if you have not selected the download location and don’t know where the file has been saved by default.
Find a recently downloaded file in Windows 10
First and foremost, make sure to check for the file in your Downloads folder which is the safest bet where the file might be saved.
If the file is not present there, we have a new and possibly the best way to find a recently opened or downloaded file inside the “Quick Access” section.
Marked with a star, this “Quick Access” section will show you all the files you have recently opened or downloaded or edited.
However, it is also possible that the file will not be found here if you have downloaded a torrent file.
In that case, you need to open the Torrent client and right-click on the downloaded torrent and then go to “Open Containing folder”.
This will show you the exact location where your torrent files have been downloaded and you can move them to a folder such as Downloads where you can find them easily.
Also, you can right-click on files inside Quick Access section and then click on “Open File Location” to get the default location where your file is saved.
