How to Voice Record on Windows 10

How to Voice Record in Windows 10

There are several ways to record your voice on a Windows 10 PC. You can either use third-party software or depend on the inbuilt feature Windows 10 coming with. Either way, you will be able to record your voice as long as you have a working voice input device connected. If you are using a laptop, chances are that the hardware is already included. If you are on a desktop computer, you will either need a headset with a microphone or a separate mic. Make sure that they are properly connected before following these steps.

Steps to Record Audio on Windows 10

  1. On the Start Menu search box, simply type Voice Recorder.
  2. Click on the first item that shows up named “Voice Recorder”.
  3. It will open the voice recorder where you can see the Record button (a circular button with a mic icon) on the left side.
  4. Click on it to start recording your voice.

By default, the recordings will be saved to C:\Users\Username\Documents\Sound recordings

Quality of the Recording

We tested the quality of the Windows 10 voice recorder for a while. It was extremely good just like any professional voice recorders out there. In terms of the voice quality, the inbuilt recorder is more than enough to record normal audio. Unless you are a professional who produces music or podcasts, the Windows 10 voice recorder is more than enough for most any of your needs.

It is not a voice editor, so you will not see any fancy features such as noise reduction or controlling other audio features. It simply records and saves the files to your computer which you can later edit using a professional audio editing program. So if your primary concern is the quality of the audio files and doesn’t care much about the editing capability, the inbuilt recorder coming with your Windows 10 PC is the best and easiest choice.
