View Images In A Zip File In Windows Using SpReader

Zip Archive is a popular utility among all platforms. It compresses any type of files to the minimum possible size. When you extract a Zip archive it extracts files to a temporary location. It doesn’t allow to view the image files in it. In order to view, you have to extract the complete files. But if you want to view multiple images without extracting them first, then use Windows utility SpReader.

To use the application just download and install the app. The installation creates a shortcut icon of SpReader on the desktop. Open the icon and locate the Zip file to view. It will show the images like a slideshow or you can view manually by pressing next button. In addition, images can be viewed in both full screen and normal modes. SpReader works with Windows XP, Vista, 7 and 8, including 32-bit and 64-bit versions.

The zip format is a god send especially for those with little storage space. The utility allows for anyone to compress files and folders to minimum size thus saving space. This format has grown popular in recent times with more people sharing files online in this format. It’s an awesome format, but it does have its issues.

For instance, one can’t view the files without fully extracting them. This isn’t always the best option especially if you downloaded the files from an unknown source. Extracting the files fully might come with unwanted issues such as viruses and the sort.

The good news is that there is a way to view the files without having to completely extract the files. For now, we shall focus on mostly images and how this can be done. SpReader is a windows utility that allows you to view multiple images on a file without extracting it first. There is no need to decompress the files as you can view them even in its zip format.

On top of that, the program does accept viewing images in other formats such as BMP, PNG and JPEG formats as well. You can also bookmark and save images you like to favorites. This makes it easier for you to view the images later. Based on these features, you get a software that can allow you to view images without unzipping and also acts as an image browser.

How to Use SpReader to View Images in Zip File

Here’s how you can enjoy browsing photos with SpReader:

  • Open the file/folder that you’d like to view: After downloading and installing the app, simply click on the folder icon to open a file/folder. The icon can be found on the top left corner of the app. Browse through file explorer and select the file you’d like to open.
  • View the Images you like: There’s really not much to this program. Once you have selected the Zip file that you’d like to view, the images will show up. That’s it. You can now browse through your images and save/bookmark the ones you like. If you want, you can also view images as a slideshow. The images can be viewed in full screen or normal mode, the choice is yours.  Viewing images in zip format is as simple as that.


SpReader works on Windows XP and all the other versions after it. The program does work with both the 32-bit and 64-bit version of windows. There’s nothing more to really say about this app as it doesn’t offer more than what was mentioned above. SpReader can help keep your computer safe especially if you download files from unknown sources.
