How To Set Up Auto-Login On Windows 10?

How To Set Up Auto-Login On Windows 10

Having access to the immediate auto-login to your Windows 10 desktop is much easier and less time taking. What about skipping all those password entering and booting-up part and jumping right into your apps? Interesting and convenient, right? Here is how to do so.

Method 1

The first method includes the User Account method, which is quite popular among the techies. So, here is how you can do it by changing the auto-login settings using the User Account:

Step 1: Open the RUN function (Press Win + R)

Step 2: Open the dialogue box and type the netplwiz, and press the Enter key to open the User Accounts window.

Step 3: In the “Users” tab, uncheck the “Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer.”

Step 4: Click on the Apply button at the bottom-right of the window.

Step 5: Then, a pop-up window will appear requesting the username, password, and confirm password. Fill that box and press the OK button.

Step 6: To undo this process check the “Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer.”

Method 2

Furthermore, here comes the second method using the Registry Editor that you can use for setting up auto-login on your Windows 10. However, using this might cause some complications in the Windows OS. You can still proceed by following these steps:

Step 1: On the Start menu or the RUN, type the Regedit and press Enter.

Step 2: On the Registry Editor window, click on the Yes button, which is going to Pop-up on the User Account Control.

Step 3: You need to navigate to the HKEY _LOCAL_ MACHINE_SOFTWARE> Microsoft > Windows > NT > CurrentVersion> Winlogon or copy-paste the HKEY_LOCAL _ MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon in the search bar at the top and press the Enter.

Step 4: Locate the DefaultUserName from the right side of the window and double click on it.

Step 5: Right-click on the space on the right-side menu by clicking New in case the entry does not exist.

Step 6: Click on the String value for renaming the Default Password.

Step 7: Enter your password in the Value data box.

Step 8: Locate the AutoAdminLogon on the right side of the window and double click on it.

Step 9: Change the value data number from 1-0 and click on ‘OK.’

Step 10: Restart your PC to make it work.

Conclusion

Though there are many other methods, these are the easier and safer ones that anyone can perform. However, you must opt for these methods only if it is of prime importance.  Otherwise, it is better to avoid this auto-login set up for security purposes.
