Roku is a very popular name in the entertainment world with more than 500000+ movies and TV series. It is also popular for providing the affordable online streaming service which makes a normal TV into a smart TV.

During enjoying a movie or TV series, the painful thing is Roku remote stopped working. There are several reasons for not working condition of Roku remote. Don’t worry. We have detailed troubleshooting steps and quickly fix the Roku remote not working issue to continue your binge-watching.

1. Check Your Batteries

Batteries

This is the most obvious cause of stop working of any remote including Roku. We forgot when we replaced the batteries and it suddenly causes trouble while we enjoying a fantastic show. Weak or dead batteries will slow down or completely stop the activity of the remote.

First, remove the batteries and then re-insert them and check. In some cases, it will work temporarily for some time. If it is still not responding, replace the batteries with new ones.

2. Distance

The distance between the remote and received should be 5-10 feet distance and it varies from company to company. If you sit far distance from your Roku device, then come closer and check it is working or not.

3. Buttons

Upon prolonged use of the remote, usually, buttons lost sensitivity and the remote will malfunction. Dismantle the remote and clean the circuit board and rubber buttons with cotton and never use the water. Make sure to place the buttons correctly on the respected positions and check the remote performance after cleaning.

4. Check for blocked signal

It is a well-known fact that remotes require a clean space to send signals. Most IR remotes require a direct signal without any disturbance between them. If you found anything is blocking signal, the remote won’t work under such conditions. Make sure to place the remote direct angle to the Roku player/stick while operating.

5. Restart Roku Remote and Roku Player or Stick

  1. Remove the batteries from the remote.
  2. Remove the power cable from Roku player/stick and wait for 5-10 seconds and then reconnect to the power.
  3. After booting, reinstall the batteries in the remote.
  4. Wait for some time and check the remote connection with the Roku player/stick.
