While the whole world is fighting the Coronavirus pandemic, we know that the situation is tense right now and everyone is panicking. This is the reason why we see that cases of criminals have also increased.
Nowadays, scammers are doing everything they can to make people prey of their tactics. In a new case, scammers are now making calls to people and saying that they are from the CDC. CDC which is the Centre for Disease Control in the US is currently the most authentic source for the spread of COVID-19.
Since people are getting a call which they believe is from the CDC, they trust the caller and give their details. Also, it is reported that the scammers are saying that they want them to “reserve for a vaccine of COVID-19”.
As you all would know, there is no vaccine yet available for the nCov. However, the scammers claim that they would be the first in line to get those vaccines if they reserve it. Also, they are being asked the social security numbers and credit card details which many are known to have given as well.
This is obviously a scam and many have now come out to say what it is. Daly City Police took to Twitter to say that there is a “New Scam” and adds that.
“People are claiming to be from the CDC offering to let people “reserve a vaccine for the COVID-19″ with a credit card and/or social security number. There is no vaccine reserve program, and the CDC is not offering anything of the sort. Do not fall prey!”
In this times of public health emergency where many people are losing their lives, it is a must to avoid any types of scams because it is common since many have lost their jobs and are trying to make money in any ways that they can.
