As a tech enthusiast, I regularly switch my phones. When it is coming to Android and iOS these two platforms way much different from each other and raises compatibility issues while migrating data. I faced these issues many times especially switching from Android to iOS. iOS works it’s in an own way. When coming to importing data Android ecosystem much flexible than iOS.
Especially in Google related importing Android works smoothly. The reason is Android OS is owned by Google. Android is very cooperative while syncing Gmail contacts when you add an email address in the device, it automatically imports all the available data like Chrome history, preferences, YouTube preferences, Calendar data and including Gmail contacts. It is an automatic process, and you don’t need to follow specific steps to import contacts.
Now coming to iPhone it is a bit tedious process to import Google contacts using Gmail. However, we researched a lot and came up with simple solutions for Gmail contacts importing on iPhone. If you purchased a new iPhone, you could start using it with our detailed step by step iPhone setup guide.
How To Sync Gmail Contacts To an iPhone
You can import Google contacts on iPhone using Gmail. To do this go to Settings app, now go to Mail, Contacts, Calendars option. Here tap on “Add account”, now you will see a list of available email syncing platforms like iCloud, Microsoft Exchange and much more.
Now select Microsoft Exchange option and fill your Gmail details. Here, you may feel uncomfortable while entering Gmail details, because this method don’t fetch automatic Gmail settings and you have to enter manually.
Now enter the below settings to add Gmail account in the iPhone mail app.
- Emai -> firstname.lastname@example.org
- Server -> m.google.com
- Domain -> m.google.com
- Username -> email@example.com
- Password -> your gmail password
- Description -> You can add your custom description here like Gmail.
Just enter the above settings in the mail account and proceed to next. Here you will see syncing options like Mail, Contacts, Calendars and Reminders. In this step, you have to enable contacts by swiping the option to right.
Now open your contacts app in iPhone, here you will see the Gmail contacts downloaded. If your iPhone still not showing the Gmail contacts, go to Groups at the top left corner of the window and swipe the screen to down to refresh the list.
